How can I print a PDF on a PC that was made on a Mac?

I’m pretty computer savvy, but this one has got me stumped. Please read ALL of this before you answer, the question is more complicated than it sounds…

When sharing files, I always use the Print option on my Mac, Save As PDF. I’ve never had a problem! I’ve even printed just fine on other PC’s. The problem is this:

I have a 40+ page paper I need to print out and wanted to do so at my local copy center (A Staples Superstore)… they opened the file, and it appears fine on their screen… however, when they print it, jumbled garbage prints in a rough format, similar to the shape of my paper. (e.g., you can see footnote areas, paragraphs, but the text is not legible. The very first word "FORWARD" prints as "oRwaRD")

They say they’ve seen it before… and it’s because I own a Mac, despite the fact I’ve never had ANY problems like this in the past. Sure enough, they showed me that it appears just fine on the screen, but when they attempt to print (or even Save As another PDF), it appears jumbled.

What can I do?!?!?!

Thanks!!

this has nothing to do with a MAC, as pdf is an industry standard and would remain same even if you run it on Linux.

moreover i have faced this issue but unable to find the root cause, the thing close to it is, what i found is that this typically happens when a PDF file has embedded fonts in it.

well i had only 2 pages to print so i copied the pdf taking snapshots, as image. Then pasted it in MS word, took the print out.. That way it was taken as image, and was able to print out of the document,

i know not the best option but this was my workaround

It’s not because you have a Mac.

It’s because the file you gave them is corrupted. Re-save it to PDF from the original document.
Try saving it in smaller sections.

I’d sort of go along with ZIG in saying you should go about a different method of creating the PDF. You could use the Firefox ZIG suggested. There are places online (use a search engine to look for them – there are many) that’ll quickly and for free, convert a file to PDF format. The way we do it is with OpenOffice… exporting to PDF. OpenOffice has never failed to create a *very* decent PDF file. Same is true, I’m sure, with IBM Lotus Symphony. I *think* (but am not sure) GOOG Docs and Spreadsheets may create PDFs, or same with Zoho Docs. In summary, try something else.
