What is it like working as a Grocery Clerk at Superstore?

Please be specific, because im considering working as a grocery clerk, and i need to know if it is boring, too stressful, if the wage is good etc etc… Thanks!

Also, is there a better job that pays more that might be available for a 16 year old living in Canada with a decent Resumé?

I worked at Kroger (an American grocery store chain that many would consider akin to a "superstore) and I hated it. We were paid minimum wage, my boss was awful, and aside from the multitudes of OSHA abuses and so on, the stress levels and monotony are almost too much to handle.

If I were you, (especially at 16 years old) I would consider a job at perhaps a small coffee shop, a bookstore, a video rental place (do they have Blockbuster in Canada?) or something similar. Wal-Mart, Kroger, and the like will stress you out, especially if you’re still in High School.

i have heard they pay is decent at grocery stores but the work is boring. i never worked in a grocery store. when i was a teenager i was a waitress and it was so much fun! i dont know the laws in canada but in texas you have to be 18 to sell alcohol so you would have to work at a restaurant that doesnt sell alcohol like cracker barrel or denny’s.

the time flies by waiting tables and you learn alot about money management and how handle sticky situations. people in the restaurant business kinda stick together so you bond with your coworkers. kinda like "Waiting". lol

in any case, you are in charge of how much money you make while waiting tables. its all about how you work!
