i think i know exactly what is wrong with your trees spruce tress have three major problems that no matter where you buy them they can and will have these problems unless treated rust, mites, and scale descriptions 1. rust can be found on the bark and will look orange and have a 3d effect 2. mites will be a very tiny bug that are easily seen if you shake a limb over a whit5e piece of paper and use a 10x magnifier 3.scale is alot harder to see its a white spot it the "leaf" area you will see more than just a few if there are any it can be treated.

They might have a disease or some kind of bug has taken up residence in the tree.

What you need to do is verify what kind of tree it is exactly and call a tree nursery in your area and ask them is there is anything you can do for your trees because they have a disease or bug.

The local tree nursery might also know if there are any recent "infestions" of bugs that like your type of tree and offer you some suggestions to get rid of them safely.

I've asked myself the same question. I've been an avig gardener for 40 years and NEVER lost a plant I've planted. NEVER. Until I bought some at Wally World. Every one of them died. It isn't lack of proper planting, mulching, or anything else I can determine. The plants are just not hardy, or something. I've replaced them all with nursery stock and they are all prospering. False economy to "save" so much at the "never the low price, ever" store! Not to mention the extra work to replant all that stuff. So much for my experiences at the super mega big barn store.

Wallmart is not the best, but, Some Personal questions;
did you bury the trees higher than the dirt around the roots?
Did you remember to remove the burlap. water every other for the last 6 month.,
Or they can just have red spider mites

That’s exactly why they’re dying. Walmart, etc. don’t necessarily grow their plants w/tender loving care – more like a puppy mill for plants.

poor drainage and shock, might be one reason. make sure you keep receipts and ask for a refund. next time. leave the trees in the pot for about 4days to a week to acclimate and then augment the soil well, dig deep enough , place the correct amount of rooting hormones and water right. sometimes some people over do it and drowns the plant. picking healthy ones also help, choose them when they just arrived, you can always ask the sales person when they arrive.

If not planted at the proper level and don't receive enough water, any tree will die. Also if you have a male dog and he is using your trees to mark his territory, that can kill a tree.

Do you have anything around the base of them? Like mulch? You need to make sure that nutrients and water can get to the base of the stem, and sometimes when you put mulch around a tree.. the base of the tree suffers, if no mulch..sorry dont have a better answer for you.

There are several potential causes here. Are they supposed to be in full sun or partial sun? Did you plant them deep enough and with proper soil and water? Are they irrigated well? Did you buy them on sale? And finally, they should give you a full refund or exchange if you bring them back and explain your situation.
